The brand new series Property Prophets shows that it is still possible to make money on the mortgage by plumping for the next property hot spot - before it becomes hot.

In the series, estate agent Lucy Winfield and property expert Paul Torrisi will be challenging would-be house hunters to be adventurous in their property search, encouraging them to step out of their safety zone and check out areas that have previously been crossed off their list. The pair will be researching and hunting down the next housing hot spots across the UK, in cities including: Leeds, Brighton, Liverpool, Manchester, London, Edinburgh and Bristol.

It may be a new rail link, a major redevelopment programme or new investment, but all these factors can lift an area to des res and offer the promise of maximum return. The trick is to get ahead of the game and discover these areas before prices go up.

Each episode sees Lucy and Paul working with prospective house buyers from a different part of the UK, each with their own wish list of requirements and budget constraints. These house hunters are taken to view four properties in what the experts predict will be a new area, on the brink of gentrification. After viewing these homes the team move on to look at a fifth property in a safe-bet area - the dilemma is, buy here and they'll be guaranteed a nice area but will make less money in later years... or buy into an emerging market with the prospect of maximising profit.

Then it's decision time. The buyers will have to decide whether they want to take a risk and put their money into an up and coming area, or stay safe and pluck for a tried and tested postcode. Providing practical tips and pointers to locating the next big thing on the property map, Prophet Prophets will be travelling the UK to discover which sides of town really are the right ones to make home.

Paul Torrisi...

Based in Leeds, Paul became salesman for Ford at the age of 17. He went on to pursue his dream of working in the music business, opening a recording studio at the age of 21. A move into property followed in the nineties, starting out in the north of England, before expanding his business into London, France and the Caribbean and then the commercial property sector. In 2004 Paul appeared in BBC TWO’s The Apprentice.

Lucy has over 14 years experience working as an estate agent. Her early experience was built up in a combination of property and PR roles. Lucy now works for a privately owned boutique Estate Agency in Notting Hill. She lives in Berkshire with her husband Jerry in her dream chocolate box cottage!
